Wildflower-Inspired Wedding at Private Italian Villa in Santa Barbara

Kimmi + Nick had plans for a large celebration in 2020, but like most couples in 2020, chose to postpone their celebration to 2021.  They did choose to have an intimate wedding with only their immediate families in 2020, so for their celebration in 2021, they decided to treat it more like a vow renewal with a fun party and all the details they skipped in 2020.

Kimmi wore a custom long sleeve Galia Lahav gown and carried a bouquet of vibrant blooms, including David Austen Juliet Roses, Ranunculus, Astilbe, Scabiosa, and Tweedia.  Nick wore the suit he wore in their 2020 elopement, paired with playful Nike sneakers.  His boutonniere was created with Ranunculus, Gomphrena, Waxflower, and Butterfly Ranunculus Buds.

The vow renewal ceremony took place on the front steps of the Italian-inspired Villa (a private estate).  Guests were greeted with champagne and mingled near the steps.  We only had a few chairs for the immediate family, as the ceremony was designed to be more informal and playful.  Kimmi and Nick came down the aisle together as a married couple, and then renewed their vows in front of an ombre half-circle of flowers created on the front steps.  We decided to skip a traditional wedding arch and go with a more lush, whimsical, colorful floral design to surround the couple.

Guests then found their seats for dinner on a custom-painted wall by K Designs, with painted wildflowers, dried flowers, and clear acrylic hexagon escort cards - reminiscent of honeycomb. Dinner was served under bistro lights covered in greenery, and guests set at mismatched wood and round tables with navy linens and gold-rimmed china.  The floral centerpieces were vibrant and colorful, and the menus were hand-painted by K Designs and designed to showcase flowers in the centerpieces and design.  The table numbers were on terra cotta and had wildflowers sketched on them as well.  At the bar, an ombre circle of flowers (reminiscent of the ceremony florals) created a focal point.

After dinner, guests entered another space around the pool, where chandeliers were suspended over the water and covered in greenery.  The fireplace was adorned with ombre flowers, and a 20’ long ombre arrangement was created on one side of the pool to make the dance floor space feel more intimate.  The final result: a fun, vibrant, whimsical celebration of their marriage!
