Vibrant Positano-Inspired Wedding at the Belmond El Encanto

Inspiration, Weddings

If you think their welcome dinner was dreamy, wait until you see Lucy and Anthony’s incredible wedding at the Belmond El Encanto

Lucy and Anthony wanted their wedding day to feel like they were in Positano, Italy: bright, vibrant, warm, luxurious, but also comfortable.  We started the design process by looking at pictures of Positano and various architectural elements, drawing inspiration from deep blues, vibrant oranges, and pops of hot pink in the bougainvillea.  Then, I had so much fun translating those colors and feelings into a memorable design…it was so magical!
Lucy wore a custom Vera Wang Gown that was classic, timeless, and playful with removable sleeves.  She chose to wear a traditional veil for the ceremony.  She carried a bouquet created with bright Poppies, Clematis, Garden Roses, Chamomile, Garden Roses, Ranunculus, light blue Delphinium and Tweedia.  Anthony wore a classic blue tux with an orange ranunculus boutonniere. They chose to forego a traditional party and keep their wedding preparation experience more intimate.  They also opted to have a first look before the ceremony so they could share an intimate moment before celebrating with friends and family.
The wedding ceremony took place at the Lily Pond at The Belmond El Encanto.  I created a wedding chuppah with sunset garden roses, delphinium, curly willow, blush spray roses, and bay leaves.  We wanted it to look like a rose bush had “grown” over their chuppah, and also wanted to contrast the orange with the blue colors.  Guests sat on light wood bistro chairs from Theoni as the string quartet played, with florals lining the back of the lily pond, marking the entrance to the aisle.  Lucy and Anthony shared a non-traditional wedding ceremony with nods to the Jewish Tradition and sentimental readings from close family members.
After the ceremony, guests enjoyed cocktails around the lily pond.  We used orange and white striped linens and colorful blooms to make the space feel bright and cheerful.  A jazz band played while the guests enjoyed sumptuous passed appetizers and a full caviar bar.

As the sun began to set, guests were brought up to the terrace at the Belmond El Encanto for an incredible dinner experience.  The escort card display had hand-painted escort cards that were created to match the dinner plates.  On the balcony, we created floral arrangements “crawling” up the poles to give the illusion of bougainvillea vines, and then added hot pink roses to give the vines an extra romantic touch.  The tables were covered in soft, white, stitched linens and had beautiful china from Theoni.  The flowers were vibrant and colorful.  Each place setting had a dried orange with a hand-painted name which served as a place card, and each guest also had a watercolor menu, featuring the florals used in the event design.

After dinner, the guests moved inside for a disco dance party.  We used fuschia lighting, a balloon and baby’s breath floral install, and a fun cake to make the space feel unique, festive, and fun.  It was such an incredible wedding celebration–vibrant, colorful, and so memorable.
