Tyler Speier Events planned and designed a day centered around guest experience, as the couple was most excited about bringing all of their most beloved friends and family to their most beloved place. Vintage postcards of the town acting as a seating chart and whiskey hour replacing cocktail hour were just a few of the special touches in-store. Every meaningful moment was artfully captured in the imagery by Natalie Bray. Get swept away by all the love in the full gallery." From Natalie Bray Studios... Darby and Max have the kindest hearts. They make you feel like best friends instantly. They wanted to create a meaningful wedding weekend that introduced their favorite people to one of their favorite places. An adorable lakeside town with epic mountain views, all the outdoor activities you could want or relaxing time by the water. They had custom paper goods from Lotus & Ash with a warm, yet modern design. Their seating chart was vintage postcard images of the town, they had a whiskey hour instead of cocktail hour, Darby wore a fitted Monique Lhuillier gown, cathedral-length veil, and Bailey Jimmy Choo heels. She is a classic beauty. The guests were greeted with custom welcome bags with local Idaho goodies and a detailed itinerary for the weekend, which included hiking, boating, morning yoga, welcome drinks, wedding festivities, and more. The flower incorporated local huckleberry branches and thousands of white blooms -- playa blanca roses, astilbe, ranunculus, and hydrangea. The reception was in a barn transformed with greenery and candles. The soft blue weaved throughout the day was intentional. They had a live band, kids were running, people were dancing... It was magic! Due to covid, they had to postpone like most couples, so they had a small intimate ceremony and this was held on their one year anniversary to celebrate with everyone. It was really special. Vendor Team:

From the Brides Feature: When it came to wedding planning, they briefly considered a destination wedding. Ultimately, the pair decided to keep it closer to home: at the Hotel Californian in Santa Barbara, to be exact. Picking the venue was the easiest part of planning. “I had reached out to a few places prior, but as soon as I came across to Hotel Californian, it was the one I was most drawn to and knew it was where we had to have our wedding,” Eva remembers. “My friends even said it was very me. I say ‘me’ because Bobby was very easygoing in the planning process—meaning whatever I liked, he usually liked too! Bless his soul.” The venue had other advantages, too. “It was right on the beach and felt like a Mediterranean paradise,” Eva says. “Our families said the architecture of the hotel reminded them of Greece, which is where we had originally planned to host our wedding! We also liked how convenient it was for us to get there from LA.” It was the perfect setting for her vision: “Clean, classic, timeless, and elegant, with all the white flowers,” Eva says. “I remember telling our wedding planner, ‘No gold, and nothing rustic or boho.’ Both are just so overdone, in my opinion. I didn’t want to look back on our wedding day and think of the theme as a trend at the time.” Instead, they opted for a chic black-and-white palette with emerald accents. Eva and Bobby said “I do” on August 7, 2021, in front of 86 guests. Though she admits planning was “stressful at times,” Eva was grateful for the help of planner Tyler Speier. “Tyler and his team made everything as seamless as possible,” she says. “Always a few steps ahead, and just so knowledgeable about the planning process and weddings in general.” Read on to peruse all the pretty, as planned by Tyler Speier Events and photographed by Natalie Bray. When it comes to beauty, “I’m a less-is-more kind of girl,” Eva says, so she didn’t want to make a bold statement with any particular element of her look. “I rarely wear makeupin my day-to-day, so I didn’t want to look like a different person on my wedding day,” she adds. She can’t even quite remember what nail color she opted for. “I either had OPI’s Funny Bunny, or something very similar," says the bride. She finished with a spritz of Glossier You. “I had tried on so many dresses, to the point where I was ready to give up,” Eva remembers about gown shopping. “The dresses I had tried on prior to finding the one were either a definite no; ones that I liked, but didn’t love; or just had certain details that I liked.” Then, another stylist happened to walk through her appointment at Lovella Bridal with a corset-top Berta sheath dress with floral beading. “The moment I tried it on, I knew it was the one!” Eva says. “It hugged my body perfectly and definitely had the wow factor the others were lacking. We added an Ines Di Santo overskirt to complete the look.” Her final fitting presented a bit of a surprise, Eva remembers with a laugh. “This may be TMI, but I literally gave birth a month prior to going wedding dress shopping. It was the first thing I did before doing anything else wedding-related; my mom was in town, so I was just eager to start looking. I had been breastfeeding, so I kept a bra on while trying on dresses.” Eva continues, “The great thing was, the bra gave me a little lift, in addition to the natural lift I had from breastfeeding. I was so surprised by how nice my boobs looked in every dress I tried on. By the time our wedding came around, I had stopped breastfeeding and was back to my normal cup size—small. I was so sad when I was doing my fitting and there was so much space between my boobs and the dress that was once so nicely filled out!” But, there was still no question: The dress was perfect. “I wanted to keep accessories to a minimum since my dress had so much detailing,” Eva explains. “The only jewelry I wore, other than my engagement ring and wedding band, were drop earrings that I had a small business owner on Etsy, My Distinct Designs, custom make. I wanted to incorporate some green that would match Bobby’s look.” The bride loves supporting small business, as she’s a small business owner herself: She runs a sustainable athleisure brand, Eva. Each bridesmaid wore a black dress of her choosing. “I sent my bridesmaids a few sites for guidance, and let them choose their own,” Eva says. “I didn’t want to choose a dressthat I liked, but knew one of my bridesmaids wouldn’t. I also liked the idea of a little contrast.” “It seems like the boys had pretty chill day,” Eva says with a laugh. “They started getting ready an hour before they needed to be ready—whereas the girls started getting ready at what seemed like the crack of dawn! They hit the pool in the morning, had beers, and basically chilled until it was time to get ready. Just another Saturday for the boys.” “Bobby was pretty adamant on not wearing the traditional black,” Eva remembers. “I liked the idea of green to match the greenery in our florals.” He opted for an emerald tux by Suitsupply and added a couple of meaningful accessories. “He had on Alexander McQueen cufflinks that I had gifted him, and an IceLink watch that he had gifted himself.” The final touch? A splash of Creed Aventus cologne. “We went back and forth,” Eva remembers about doing a first look. “Although we wanted that special moment of him seeing me for the first time while walking down the aisle, it felt more special being just the two of us. We also wanted to be able to join our guests for cocktail hour." Ultimately, they were happy they did it. “It was just the two of us. We were both emotional, and even though I had been pretty stressed with planning and being a new mom leading up to the wedding, all those anxious thoughts went away in that moment,” Eva says. “Even with the photographers and videographers around, it truly felt like it was just the two of us in that moment. We were also able to bring in our daughter and dog for photos immediately after, which was the only opportunity for us to capture this moment as a family.” In fact, their baby daughter, Mila, had an important role in the wedding. “The flower girl’s attire was special to me as it was my daughter!” Eva says. “I tried really hard to find a dress for her similar to mine, but ended up putting her in a little lacy dress with a matching headband and slipper-like shoes.” She found the look at Jolanta Diciu Dress Design on Etsy. As for the ring bearer’s attire, “I let his mom take the reins; I was surprisingly not too worried about this detail,” Eva says. “I guess because a baby can really make anything look cute.” “I wanted the groomsmen to look super classic—all black and white,” the bride says. “Luckily, Bobby let me take charge on this one. Otherwise, I’m afraid he would’ve wanted them in a color too, which I would not have wanted.” “Deciding on the small details that no one thinks about” was the toughest part of planning for Eva. “I’m a people-pleaser, so I overthought the guest experience from time to time. Sometimes, I had to remind myself that this was our day, and no one else’s.” Looking back, she’d advise other couples not to worry like she did. “Don’t think too much into the small details—because if you didn’t think of it before, most people probably won’t notice either!” “The ceremony took place in a black-and-white-tiled courtyard, so the florals were clean, lush, and bright white,” Eva describes. “The aisle was lined with a lush white florals including hydrangeas, roses, ranunculus, carnations, and tulips. The deconstructed arch was created with vines, textured greenery, and white roses, tulips, hydrangeas, carnations, and ranunculus.” The groom’s parents and grandmother entered first, to the tune of Norah Jones’ “Come Away With Me”; next came the bridal party to “Your Song” by Elton John. But, when it was time for Mila to make her grand entrance as flower girl, things didn’t go quite as planned. “We had Mila and the ring bearer come down the aisle in remote-controlled G-wagons, which were controlled by two of the groomsmen,” Eva says. “When it was Mila’s turn, the groomsman accidentally steered her in the wrong direction so she ended up crashing into the flowers along the aisle! In the videos and photos we have from this moment, you just see our guests in the background with their jaws dropped, and Mila completely unfazed. Tyler, our planner, swiftly steered the car back onto the aisle. Our groomsman felt bad, but it was honestly the cutest and funniest moment of the night.” After the laughter died down and things got back on course—literally—Eva entered with her father as Ellie Goulding’s “How Long Will I Love You” played. She carried a bouquetof white playa blanca roses, white orchids, ranunculus, astilbe, and dusty miller. ![]() Santa Barbara-based officiant Patrice Handley performed the ceremony, which included poems dubbed “The Soulmate” and “Love is Friendship Caught on Fire.” “We went with traditional vows,” Eva says. "We did write personal statements for each other that were read during our ceremony," she adds. “You’ve Got the Love” by Florence + the Machine set a celebratory tone as the newlyweds kissed and recessed down the aisle. The newlyweds took a few moments to capture photos with each other and their wedding party before heading to the reception. Guests enjoyed an outdoor cocktail hour with sips of the duo’s two signature cocktails. The EvaMelon featured Belvedere, fresh watermelon and lime juice, simple syrup, and mint; the Bobby Smash was a bourbon smash with Maker’s Mark and mint. Waiters passed hors d’oeuvres like goat cheese hummus with blackberry on brioche, oyster shooters, crab cakes with charred pepper coulis, and fried chicken sliders. Afterward, everyone headed upstairs to the rooftop reception, overlooking downtown Santa Barbara and the beautiful Santa Barbara Harbor. The newlyweds held court at a mirrored sweetheart table in front of the outdoor fireplace, surrounded by a seas of white roses and candles. “Guests dined under a canopy of bistro lights,” Eva says. “The tables were all covered in crisp white linens, set with white chairs, and white and silver china. The chargers were mirrors, white candles adorned the table, acrylic table numbers told guests where to sit, and the florals were lush and white.” Vellum escort cards were affixed to a white wall; and, for favors, a white shelf was lined with mini personalized bottles of Moët Chandon Champagne. The duo was all smiles as they entered the reception, and their smiles got even bigger as speeches were made. “Our families’ toasts were given in Chinese and Bulgarian, which were translated by my sister—the maid of honor—and Bobby,” Eva says. “It was special because some of our guests’ first language is not English, so everyone in the room was able to understand what was being said and get a good laugh.” DJ Gavin Roy spun Daniel Caesar’s “Best Part” as Eva and Bobby danced their first dance as newlyweds. Later, Eva danced with her dad to “Sunday Morning” by Maroon 5, and Bobby selected a Bulgarian song—“I Was for You” by Lili Ivanova—for his mother-son dance. Dinner began with a kale salad with poached pear and candied pepitas, and tomato and burrata with pine nut relish. For their main course, guests choose California lamb with cauliflower, halibut with squash and potato latkes, or mushroom risotto. The three-tier wedding cake was adorned with white blooms to complement the reception florals. Inside was lemon butter cake with sweet raspberry preserves and lemon mousseline. But dessert didn’t end with cake. Waiters served tray-passed cake pops, milkshake shots, and mini mint chocolate ice cream bars dipped in chocolate. The dance floor was an international affair. “Since Bobby is from Bulgaria, both American and Bulgarian music was played at the reception,” Eva says. Another highlight? “Our photo booth was a hit! It was a nice activity to have aside from dinner and dancing. Shoutout to the iconic MirMir for making everyone look flawless in their photos.” When it was all over, the newlyweds—and new parents—got a well-deserved break on a romantic honeymoon in Bora Bora. Like many of our recent couples, Jacqueline + Zac had to postpone their wedding due to the pandemic, but then their original venue ended up shutting down, so we moved forward with a different venue. But then, there was a wildfire right outside the venue just days before the wedding, so I was researching new venues and backup options. I had taken measurements and designed a completely new wedding (third time’s the charm!), and then the wildfire situation de-escalated and the freeway finally opened up, so we were able to move forward with the previous plan and venue! Because of delays, we had to set-up everything twice as fast...thankfully, it all came together beautifully. Jacqueline wore a classic, timeless, elegant Vera Wang gown, carrying a bouquet of autumnal blooms. They said their vows under a traditional chuppah in a traditional Jewish wedding ceremony - I love all of the blessings and traditions! Guests enjoyed a cocktail-style reception (with no formal dinner seating), so we had multiple lounges, cocktail tables, gathering tables, and food stations around the tent. The menu was so fun - from sliders and French Fries to Sushi, each food station represented some of the couple’s favorite foods. I love when couples choose to take a more non-traditional approach to their wedding, and this was such a fun, memorable dance party and experience for the guests. Shaylyn and Gabe were married at Kestrel Park in Santa Ynez, California. They wanted their celebration to focus around their love of family, gourmet food, craft cocktails, and the joy of being with friends. Since Gabe’s family is from Cuba, they wanted to incorporate fun cultural elements as well. The invitation suite was full of autumnal colors, a custom painting of the couple’s dog, and a detailed itinerary for the weekend getaway in Santa Ynez, complete with a welcome wine tasting, and farm-to-table rehearsal dinner, wedding festivities, and an after-party at a western bar. When guests arrived at the wedding, they were greeted with rosé and champagne served in vintage glassware as the string quartet played “Bridgerton-inspired” music. Their ceremony took place underneath the autumnal branches in the allay at Kestrel Park, with lush autumn florals adorning the large arch and aisle. Then, guests were invited into the secret garden, for sumptuous appetizers, a charcuterie spread, and signature craft cocktails - a passion-guava Mezcal inspired cocktail entitled “Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil", and a New York Sour, a bourbon cocktail with a smoked glass served with red wine. The multi-course dinner reception took place underneath a sailcloth tent in the horse pasture, with lush autumnal flowers, velvet linens, vintage glassware, and a full band. Anh wore a modern gown with a detailed pearl veil, and carried a white bouquet of roses, ranunculus, and astilbe. Her bridesmaids wore black floor-length gowns and carried simple bouquets of white roses. Chris wore a tuxedo with a white coat and his groomsmen wore classic tuxedos. The ceremony took place on the rooftop of the Moxi Museum as guests sipped champagne. We created a deconstructed ombre arch that faded from white to deep fuschia, creating a dramatic focal of the ceremony space. Chris’s dad married them in a heartfelt ceremony. Cocktail hour took place inside the museum, where guests could sip cocktails, enjoy unique appetizers (including grilled cheese and chicken and waffles), and even interact with the various children’s exhibits–from building go-cars to a giant light-brite. As the guests made their way upstairs for dinner, they were greeted with a large escort card display of Anh + Chris’s “Favorite People.” The tables were covered in charcoal linens, set with bright white china, acrylic accents, vellum menus, and varying centerpieces: some tall with tropical greenery and others low and bountiful with white blooms and tropical accents. The head table had a bright pop of color with a 24’ long ombre floral garland. The bar also had a bright ombre floral garland with tropical foliage. They wanted their wedding to be vibrant, colorful, autumnal, and floral-focused…and we had so much fun bringing their design to life! We were all so so excited when Green Wedding Shoes asked to share this wedding, you can check out their feature here. Laura wore a custom suit and Caroline wore a gown by Hayley Paige. Their bridal parties wore jewel-toned dresses in varying colors and textures. They wanted their wedding to be colorful, vibrant, and fun - so we used a full autumnal, jewel-toned color palette to bring their vision to life. Laura wore an abundant boutonniere created with seasonal blooms and foliage, and Caroline carried a bouquet of autumnal blooms, including quicksand roses, butterscotch roses, brunnia berries, eryngium, ranunculus, and autumn foliage. The ceremony took place on the bluffs overlooking the pacific ocean. We used a triangular arch to frame the space, covered with blooms. The florals were designed to progress in color as they “grew” up the arch, starting with blue, then purple, red, orange, butterscotch, and blush. The back of the chairs were lined with autumnal foliage and pampas grass. With a clear view of the ocean and the California coastline in the background, it was picturesque! After cocktails in a botanical greenhouse, guests entered the reception space. K Designs created an acrylic seating chart, which we lined with greenery and florals to create a “tunnel” going into the greenhouse space. A large arch of rainbow-inspired florals lined the main entrance to the greenhouse, which was also styled with taupe velvet curtains. The tables were designed in three styles: long wooden tables with abundant hanging arrangements overhead, round tables with navy linens and tall organic centerpieces, and additional round tables with lower, abundant floral compotes. The table numbers were hand-painted pomegranates. Each place setting had a watercolor menu, painted to match the florals on the table and a hand-painted guest name on each. Over the dance floor, we created a massive hanging structure with greenery and hanging edison bulbs. Guests could enjoy the lounge near the dance floor, with textured furniture. At the bar, a painted menu of the couple’s dog showcased the signature cocktails. Seasons catering served an incredible autumnal-inspired menu, including Burrata and wild arugula salad, Roasted butternut squash soup with yogurt and cilantro, Prime flat iron steak, Horseradish crusted salmon, Risotto with butternut squash, wild mushroom, sautéed spinach, with caramelized onions. A true autumn affair, Bella and Jake wanted to have a large party with all of their family and friends with autumnal flavors, colors, and details. It was such an incredible night! Bella wore a modern bridal gown with beautiful prada shoes. For the ceremony, she wore a textured veil with pearls. Jake wore a retro-inspired neutral suit. To switch up some of the traditions, Bella chose to have a “Man of Honor,” who wore a cognac velvet coat, and Jake chose to have “Best Woman,” who wore an autumnal dress, complementing the rest of the bridesmaids. Bella carried a bouquet created with dahlias, ranunculus, garden roses, and textured dried elements. The entire bridal party was so fun - we loved the mismatched dresses, suits, shoes, and jumpsuits that created the perfect autumnal look. The ceremony took place in the garden courtyard at the Santa Barbara Historical Museum. The aisle was lined with florals and pampas, and the arch was created with textured autumn blooms. It was tall, full, and luxurious - we loved all the little details - from seed pods to baby’s breath, the arch was so textured and fun! For cocktail hour, the bar was adorned with a rainbow of autumn flowers, fading from autumn tones to monochromatic dried white blossoms. In lieu of a traditional guest book, guests left handwritten “wishes” on hand-made paper that was then hung on olive trees, inspired by the wishing tree in Venice. To guide each guest to their seats, K Designs created a ceramic display of names on pottery, and we created a greenery display in the pots as a warm welcome to dinner. Guests enjoyed a full open bar with passed appetizers, including miniature California Fish Tacos, miniature margaritas, fresh spring rolls with edible flowers inside, and Brie en Croute. Guests dined under a canopy of bistro lights covered in greenery at round tables with neutral linens, natural ceramic china, vintage glassware, rust velvet napkins, and gold flatware. The bride hand-made leather tags on each menu for the guests. A small piece of star anise was also placed at each place setting as an autumnal accent. The large bridal party dined at a wooden feasting table, which provided a warm focal for the reception space. Over the dance floor, a multitude of star lanterns made the space feel extra festive and warm! The guests enjoyed an autumnal-inspired meal, including a farm-to-table wedge salad course, a salmon course, filet mignon with mushrooms and shallots, a yukon gold and sweet potato gratin, and orange-honey roasted carrots. My favorite thing about this wedding was the relationship between the bride and her mom. They had such a FUN dynamic throughout the whole wedding planning process, and it was truly a joy to work with them. Lucy and Anthony wanted their wedding day to feel like they were in Positano, Italy: bright, vibrant, warm, luxurious, but also comfortable. We started the design process by looking at pictures of Positano and various architectural elements, drawing inspiration from deep blues, vibrant oranges, and pops of hot pink in the bougainvillea. Then, I had so much fun translating those colors and feelings into a memorable design...it was so magical! Lucy wore a custom Vera Wang Gown that was classic, timeless, and playful with removable sleeves. She chose to wear a traditional veil for the ceremony. She carried a bouquet created with bright Poppies, Clematis, Garden Roses, Chamomile, Garden Roses, Ranunculus, light blue Delphinium and Tweedia. Anthony wore a classic blue tux with an orange ranunculus boutonniere. They chose to forego a traditional party and keep their wedding preparation experience more intimate. They also opted to have a first look before the ceremony so they could share an intimate moment before celebrating with friends and family. The wedding ceremony took place at the Lily Pond at The Belmond El Encanto. I created a wedding chuppah with sunset garden roses, delphinium, curly willow, blush spray roses, and bay leaves. We wanted it to look like a rose bush had “grown” over their chuppah, and also wanted to contrast the orange with the blue colors. Guests sat on light wood bistro chairs from Theoni as the string quartet played, with florals lining the back of the lily pond, marking the entrance to the aisle. Lucy and Anthony shared a non-traditional wedding ceremony with nods to the Jewish Tradition and sentimental readings from close family members. After the ceremony, guests enjoyed cocktails around the lily pond. We used orange and white striped linens and colorful blooms to make the space feel bright and cheerful. A jazz band played while the guests enjoyed sumptuous passed appetizers and a full caviar bar. ![]() As the sun began to set, guests were brought up to the terrace at the Belmond El Encanto for an incredible dinner experience. The escort card display had hand-painted escort cards that were created to match the dinner plates. On the balcony, we created floral arrangements “crawling” up the poles to give the illusion of bougainvillea vines, and then added hot pink roses to give the vines an extra romantic touch. The tables were covered in soft, white, stitched linens and had beautiful china from Theoni. The flowers were vibrant and colorful. Each place setting had a dried orange with a hand-painted name which served as a place card, and each guest also had a watercolor menu, featuring the florals used in the event design. ![]() After dinner, the guests moved inside for a disco dance party. After wine tasting in the classic Santa Barbara Funk Zone, guests were invited to sit down at a feasting table lined with organic white blooms, candles, herbs, and textured greenery under bistro lights for a multi-course farm-to-table dinner. The chef at The Lark Santa Barbara prepared a six-course family style dining experience, including Tuna Crudo, Roasted Brussel Sprouts, Southern Fried Chicken, Spiced Chickpea Tangine, Oven Roasted Steelhead Trout and Olive Oil Blossom Cake. As a planner, I love when couples choose to host a welcome dinner for their destination guests. Having everyone together before the wedding day itself allows for the couple to greet all of their guests, see everyone, and allows for the group to get to know each other before the wedding celebration. Old friends can catch up, new friendships can be formed, and as a group, the guests can get to know each other. This way, on the wedding day, the “ice” is already broken, and the guests are ready to celebrate. Also, the couple has already had the chance to greet most of their guests by time the wedding starts, so they can be more present on the big day itself. Finally, hosting a welcome dinner provides the couple an opportunity to embrace the local gems in the area they are getting married - from fun wine tastings to farm-to-table meals, classic trolley rides to exploring downtown in a new area...all of these are fun welcome dinner ideas (that may not be what a couple wants to have on their wedding day itself). All of the details were so elegant and fun - we loved working with Bryana and her mom, Cynthia, for over two years to bring this vision to life! After postponing this wedding due to the pandemic, the incredible day was well worth the wait. Because of the travel restrictions to Europe, we wanted to bring a “European Wedding” to Santa Barbara - and we did just that! Bryana wore a custom Galia Lahav gown and beautiful Louboutin shoes. Her bouquet was created with garden roses, pieris buds, ranunculus, peonies, dusty miller, and lisianthus blooms. Her bridesmaids wore soft silver dresses while Jad and his groomsmen wore black tuxedos. The ceremony took place on the polo lawn overlooking the coast. The arch was created with abundant greenery and Early Gray roses, to give added depth and texture. The carpeted aisle was lined with abundant delphinium blooms and roses. At the entrance of the aisle, two white European-inspired pillars with urns filled with hydrangea and white blooms anchored the space. The iconic stone staircase at Klentner Ranch served as the beginning of the aisle, and was lined with abundant delphinium blooms in white and light blue. Bryana’s cathedral-length gown trailed down the stairs - when she and her dad made their entrance as the harpist played, it was simply breathtaking. After the ceremony, guests enjoyed floral-petal-filled cocktails and Mediterranean-inspired bites around the pool. Guests were then escorted to the tent, where they found their names on a large, modern escort card wall and were greeted by a Belly Dancer, a celebratory nod towards Jad’s Lebanese heritage. The monochromatic design in the tent was so timeless and elegant. From the towering arrangements of hydrangea and roses to the five-tier wedding cake, the crystal chandeliers to the soft draping, the tent was so romantic. Guests enjoyed a Mediterranean-inspired dinner, a lively dance party, and an incredible Santa Barbara sunset. Planning + Design + Flowers: Tyler Speier
